Monsoons are here, bringing refreshing rains and much-needed relief from sweltering summer. 

But it also makes us more vulnerable to the seasonal infections like seasonal cold, flu, mosquito-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, and stomach infections are very common in monsoon. During this time, it's crucial to pay attention to your eating habits and make wise food choices to stay healthy and boost your immune system. 

Here are some home remedies and nutrition tips to help you strengthen the immune system during the monsoon season. 

  • Consume 2 walnut halves with ½ tsp honey before breakfast for enhancing the immunity 

  • Consuming 1 jaggery spice laddo once anytime in the day helps strengthen the immune system & gut health. Spice ladoo - Mix jaggery with equal amount of ghee, cinnamon, saunth, nutmeg & honey. Mix & make laddo’s, consume as required. 

  • Consume herb juice at bedtime incase of a cold. Herb juice – 1 tsp fresh tulsi juice + 1 tsp fresh ginger juice + 1 tsp honey + 1 pinch haldi. Mix & drink immediately 

  • Stay hydrated & drink more fluids. Warm water, freshly made soups, broth, herbal teas are rehydrating which helps maintain electrolyte balance, detoxifies the system and helps strengthen the immune

  • Consume Seasonal Herbs and Spices like ginger, garlic, turmeric, cinnamon, and black pepper in your meals. These ingredients have antimicrobial properties & not only enhance the flavor of the food but also provide numerous health benefits. 

  • Include probiotics in your meals. Yogurt, buttermilk, pickles & other fermented foods help maintain a healthy gut and strengthen the immune system. They are rich in beneficial bacteria that aid digestion and enhance immunity. 

  • Avoid consuming Street Food and Raw vegetables. These foods are more prone to bacterial growth & infection and can increase the risk of foodborne diseases therefore opt for freshly cooked meals. 

Prioritize fresh, seasonal foods, maintain proper food hygiene, and make wise food choices to boost your immunity and protect yourself from common monsoon ailments. Stay hydrated, eat mindfully, and enjoy the rainy season while keeping your health in check.
